Welcome, Guest.

Hey, this site holds up pretty well...

I'm surprised at how much I still like this website even though it hasn't been worked on in over ten years.

I'm planning on shutting down the hosting that this website is running on in the near future. I've backed up this website & I intend to use some of the aesthetics because I really like the look & feel of the website.

Oh wow, it's been four years

Time flies. And this website still looks neat. It's a shame it never truly became anything. Maybe some day it'll get the second wind that it deserves.

Like sands through the hourglass...

Not all projects are completed in the time frame we would like to see. Sadly, GuardedCode is one of these projects. However we haven't abandoned it. Instead, we have spent our time working on various other sites/projects (I think we have about 12 between us) and like always when time permits we will get back into developing at some point in the future.

So stay tuned, one day we will be finished!

Big Things To Come In The Future

Posted on 2008-03-13 14:23:56

There have been quite a few updates in the past weeks to the new codebase we've been working on. Unfortunately, neither of use have had time to really put a lot of work in to it. Fortunately, March 21 is when I start my spring break and I intend to put a lot of time into GC while I'm not having fun in non-programming activities (Spending time with girlfriend, playing Starcraft, hanging out with friends).

We're really close to being able to begin writing modules, and once we're at that point, things will go by really fast. Hopefully, we'll get a module or two written by the end of spring break. (cross your fingers!)

GuardedCode 2.0 Coming Along

Posted on 2008-02-18 00:11:06

I've been putting a lot of time in to the new GuardedCode. Basically, if I'm not spending time with my beautiful girlfriend or doing homework,  then you can bet that I'm putting a good 60% of my time in to programming. So here is where we stand right now. We have a very good template parser worked out that is A LOT more efficient than the current implementation. The only problem with it right now is that it doesn't do any caching, but it's very extensible, so if it turns out to be worth it, we can implement that later. I also finished a session manager factory. It allows for simple communication with session data, and since it's implemented through the factory pattern, then other versions (such as a database driven type) can easily be added on later. I also worked with the theming, and now it is no longer db-based. I was surprised how much more efficient it'd make it. This also allowed for some more exotic styles to be implemented such as icons.

All in all, the project is going along incredibly smoothly. I hope that we can start writing up modules soon. The only thing left to do is set an end-date since I ported over the text encoder earlier today.
